Rancho El Ojo is a pristine ranch in Durango and the birthplace of Origen Raiz. It is owned by the Saravia family, who act as stewards of the land to conserve the balance and rejuvenate the health of the grassland ecosystem. With an abundance of agave, this certified wildlife preserve also presented a wonderful opportunity. Don Valentin Cortés, with his knowledge of traditional mezcal from Oaxaca, joined the Saravia’s to build Viñata El Ojo. The Saravia and Cortés families extend a warm welcome, inviting you to join us in experiencing the beauty of this collaboration and discovering the true essence
behind Origen Raiz.

April 11-14
Rancho el Ojo
Arrive in Durango to a welcome dinner at the family Yucca Ranch. Travel to Rancho El Ojo the next morning where we will camp at the viñata. Explore grasslands, caves, the plentiful wild agave & wild life. We drink & eat well while experiencing the true essence of the work of Don Valentin & Origen Raiz. We head back to Durango late afternoon.
April 11-16
Rancho El Ojo & Las Quebradas
Experience Rancho el Ojo and then join us on a journey to Las Quebradas. This beautiful mountainous region in northern Durango, Sinaloa and Chihuahua known for the Golden Triangle is a fertile & diverse area that exhibits unique microclimates. We will fly from Durango via Cessna to meet with Don Carlos & family at Viñata Rancho Grande in El Platanar. We spend two nights and a full day immersed in the land of Chacaleño.

We head back to Durango late afternoon.
